Sector Focused Career Fair
Choosing a course and university after SPM is indeed a stressful process. I remember when I was in Form 5 (Oh gosh, so long ago man.... :D) I was so confused I didn't know what I want to learn. Yes of course I want to enroll in a university, but which university? Which course? And then after finishing my 3 years of diploma and 2 years of degree, now where do I go? You see, decision-making is an on-going process in the entire life so you have to be wise. Especially in deciding your career path, your decision will determine your future. No I'm not here to intimidate or scare you, but you have to admit that you need guidance in selecting the right job that will benefit you.
On the 12th and 13th November 2013, Sector Focused Career Fair (SFCF) is held at Dewan Seri Budiman, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam, organized by Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp). SFCF UiTM was a collaboration between TalentCorp, Graduan, MDeC and UiTM and the highlighted topic of the career fair were Shared Services and Outsourcing (SSO).
WHAT IS SFCF?
The SFCF enables graduates to meet their potential employees through meeting the important people in the companies such as the CEOs and senior HR representatives. Graduates will have the opportunity to work in an international companies and definitely will gain international experience without having to travel outside Malaysia through career in shared services. The career fair is also beneficial to the participating companies as they can search for top talents to join and be a part of the team. Through SFCF, they have the opportunity to help graduates to have a better understanding about the demands in the developing sectors, sectoral branding and SSO sector. More than 30 international companies involved in this career fair including AIG, DHL, Electrolux. Frost Sullivan, GlaxoSmithKline, HP, IBM, La Farge, SIme Darby and PwC. These are all well known companies, now tell me that you don't want to be a part of any of the companies? ;)
There were two informative sessions for the graduates to participate during the two-day event, which were the Career Talks and the Couch Slots. During Career Talks, graduates were able to listen to the experiences and advises from the industry leaders. Nothing is better than hearing it from the best in the industry, right? Whereas Couch Corner slots were more casual and relax where graduates and visitors can interact with the companies representatives. They were given the opportunity to ask questions about the companies they are interested in to get more information about job scope, companies benefits and such. Hence it will help graduates in decision-making by narrowing down the pros and cons.
Students nowadays are so lucky to have this kind of exposure. Attending career fairs can certainly help you to see clearly what you want for your future. So be wise and grab the opportunity to explore the unknown! Who knows you might stumbled upon something that could really change your life.... ^_^
