I never dyed my hair.
Is that
dramatic enough? *LOL* :D
I know
that hair colouring / hair dyeing is a normal thing because most of my friends
do it, but I was never convinced enough to try any products. One of the reasons
is because I love my thick black hair and I never have the intention to go
crazy with my hair colour. The second reason is because my question of whether
the hair dye is wudhu' compliance or not. I know that there are 'halal'
hair dye products in the market, but brands should be aware that it's not just
about 'halal' ingredients, it is also a matter of weather the product is
water permeable or not. Water permeable function is crucial because one of the
main commandment of wudhu' (ablution) is to wet the front hair with
water. Before you ask (if you are a non-muslim), wudhu' is a vital step
to do before performing prayers for muslims. So it is important to make sure
the product is water permeable.
Last week
I had the opportunity to attend a wudhu' compliance hair colour launch, Gumash Nourishing Hair Color by Rangkaian
Mercu Health & Beauty which was created through the idea of the
founder, Datin Syarifah Farah Gumash Syed Husin. During the event, Datin
Syarifah herself told us that she noticed that there weren't any wudhu'
compliance hair colours available in the market and she took it upon herself to
provide it to the market. With the help of syariah panels, Dato' Zahazan
Mohamed and Ustaz Fauwaz Fadzil, they ensure that Gumash is water permeable and
safe to be used by muslims. The research to create Gumash took about one and a
half year, and chemists works hand in hand with syariah panels to ensure
the ingredients used are halal, safe, water permeable and beneficial to
consumers.
Gumash Nourishing Hair Color is
created based on how henna works on hair. The colourings came from synthetic
dyes and enriched with natural sources such as cocoa butter and argan oil. As a
beauty addict, I know that cocoa butter and argan oil are so beneficial to
hair. Here's are the breakdown of how these two ingredients bring benefits to
our hair :
COCOA
BUTTER
✨ Softening
properties
✨ Provides
intense hydration
✨ Repair
dry and damaged hair
✨ Reduce
hair loss through the benefits of hair strengthening
ARGAN OIL
✨ Promote
hair growth
✨ Helps in
keeping the hair soft, smooth and manageable
✨ Decrease
hair frizziness
Gumash Nourishing Hair Color is
100 percent free from ammonia and paraben, making it safe to be used by
consumers. So now you know what Gumash is made of, so let's find out the shades
available and my thoughts on this wudhu' compliance hair colour.
There are
3 shades available ; black, dark red and dark brown. It is said that the
color will translate differently on different hair, as some is using it to
cover grey hair and some is using just for the sake of colouring the hair (like
myself :D). I would think that this hair colour would be a great gift to our
parents if they would want to dye hair as the colour will be more vibrant on
grey hair. Okay, so what's included in a Gumash
Nourishing Hair Color kit?
✨ Gumash
Color Cream (2 x 40ml) - Formulated with henna and enriched with argan oil and
cocoa butter.
✨ Gumash
Hair Developer Lotion (2 x 60ml) - To activate color cream
✨ Gumash
Hair Shampoo (30ml) - Remove impurities for a manageable hair
✨ Gumash
Hair Conditioner (30ml) - Keep hair soft, shiny and prevent split ends
✨ Gumash
Hair Serum (5ml) - Final step to keep the hair soft, smooth and silky
✨ A pair of
gloves
✨ A shower
cap
✨ A dual
comb and brush for hair colour application
✨ Instruction
leaflet for easy application
Pouring in 1A (Color Cream) into 1B (Hair developer Lotion) |
Shake the bottle vigorously to ensure all the products are mixed well together. |
Then
apply the cream on the brush and apply it on hair. I would suggest to make
small sections, layer by layer for easy application and also to ensure wider
coverage. Start from hair root, and work your way down to the end. Use the comb
for tangled hair and to keep the hair in place. Don't forget to put on a towel
over your shoulder to prevent any spillage on your clothes. If you have longer
hair (like myself), I highly recommend for you to ask someone to help you to
apply it. My husband helped me about 3/4 way, and then I had to do it myself
because my son woke up from his nap and needed to be hold. So after I was done
with the application, I realized that there were quite huge hair dye droplets
on my carpet. T_T Soooo, I really suggest for you to ask someone to help out or
lay out plastics or newspapers under your chair, just to be safe.
Anyway,
after you are done with the application, leave it on for 30 to 45 minutes,
depending on your grey hair situation. I kept it on for 30 minutes only as I
don't have grey hair. Oh ONE IMPORTANT thing, don't forget to do the skin
allergy test on the bend of your elbow (do not wash the colour for 48
hours) before using this hair colour to make sure that you are not allergic to
any of the ingredients.
After 30
- 45 minutes, rinse off with water and continue with shampoo and conditioner.
Then apply hair serum to towel-dried hair for the final step to keep the hair
soft, shiny and healthy. After my hair is completely dry, I can see that there
are subtle dark red hue on my hair. My hair is really really black, I never
coloured my hair and it is chemical-free hair so I don't really expect the hair
colour to be intense. But I really think that it would have a great colour pay
off for someone with grey hair.
There are
so may reasons why I love this Gumash
Nourishing Hair Color :
✨ It's a
muslim product made for muslims (of course for non-muslims too)
✨ The
research and production is curated by syariah panels, therefore I can
use it 'tanpa was-was'.
✨ It's
wudhu' compliance which is a great alternative for muslims who are looking
for solution to dye their grey hair.
✨ This hair
colour has amazing fruity scent, thanks to the non-existance of ammonia.
✨ My hair
feels super soft and smooth even after 3 days of colouring my hair.
✨ There are
2 bottles/tubes of the hair colour cream and hair developer lotion. If you have
shorter hair, you can use one bottle and save another bottle for another time.
✨ I love
that the kit comes in a complete set, starting from the gloves to the hair
serum (everything you need for the hair colouring process)
✨ I can do
it at the comfort of my own home, any time of the day.
✨ The kit is not just about hair colouring, it is also about protecting and nourishing hair.
Would I
suggest Gumash Nourishing Hair Color to
you? Absolutely! This is the first time I came across a wudhu' compliance hair
colouring product and I must share it with you guys! You can now colour you
grey hair 'tanpa was-was' and be a confident with yourself. Furthermore,
this is made by muslim, for muslim. It is a better choice, isn't it? :) A box
of Gumash Nourishing Hair Color is
priced at RM129, but currently it is priced at RM109 due to a seasonal
promotion. You can purchase it at certified agents nationwide or via
website.
